This little one is in the beginning stages of learning ballet, and was a bit apprehensive about the steps. As she stretched to touch her toes and glanced behind her, I saw this pensive look and immediately snapped the shutter. So elegant for a three-year-old girl!

"She has such perfect features and the moment and expression were captured at the PERFECT moment!""The tones and grain here are so nicely done and add such impact to this image."

"Love the off center composition of this image... The way she's looking back with the little shoulder tilt has such impact."

The Pittsburgh Business Times recently featured IROCP member Skye Hardwick....

Hardwick specializes in fine arts children's photography, which is gaining in popularity among parents who prefer to capture their children in more realistic or naturalist settings than a portrait studio. Hardwick recently was named to the highly selective International Registry of Children's Photographers.

More Award Winning Members of IROCP!

Joy Vertz of Shoot the Moon Photography entered 4 prints into the Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association (WPPA) ...all of which were accepted for exhibition! Additionally 3 prints were awarded Ribbons of Excellence. One of Joy's prints earned one of the 12 Artistic Achievement ribbons given out at the competition.

IROCP member and a Founding Member of IGOCP Stephanie Clark just returned from Mid-East (6 state regional PPA convention)....with 4 blue ribbons! Her images went 4 for 4 in competition with all four getting a blue ribbon of merit at the event held in Dayton Ohio.

Previously, at the Kentucky Professional Photographers Association annual convention (in January), Finger Lickin' Good received the Court of Honor Award and Nowhere I'd Rather Be received a Judge's Choice Award.

The Mid-East States print competition featured over 1200 prints by photographers from Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

The IROCP would like to extend a big congratulations to Sharon Wright (Wright Photography) of Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Sharon was recently presented with the 2005 Readers' Choice Award as the "Best Portait Photographer 2005 in Ladner & Tsawwassen" (her local region).

Sharon was also recently given an honorable mention in the CAPA (Canandian Association for Photographic Art) in the First Annual Digital Competition for her b/w portrait of a baby cradled in his mother's and father's hands.

What is the IROCP?

The International Registry of Children’s Photographers (IROCP) is an organization of exceptional artists specializing in Fine Art Children's Photography.

Members of IROCP are dedicated to promoting honesty and artistry in children’s portraiture. Each artist is committed to photographing children respectfully....not commanding them to look a certain way, or force a fake smile. With this approach, a child's true spirit is allowed to shine through, as evident in the resulting image.

IROCP was formed by the International Guild of Children's Photographers when they realized that the ART of children's photography was not appropriately represented by any significant association. The lack of a resource such as this made it difficult for families to find photographers truly passionate about capturing children in an honest and dignified manner. IROCP.com was the obvious solution.

Our goal is to provide a simple, reliable way for these clients to find a photographer who will meet their needs.

The screening process for inclusion in this highly-regarded group is comprehensive and, as such, membership is comprised of the very best children's photographic artists in the world. They see your children as the future, and go the extra mile to make a difference.

It is clear to see why the judges chose Jonathan Payne's entry as the winning image for the 4th Quarter - 2005 IROCP Photography Competition. It is a natural and emotional image of childhood. Jonathan's talent is evident in his photographs. Looking through his gallery, it evokes emotions such as joy and pride even when you are not connected to the subject. One can only imagine how the parents must feel when viewing their photographs from a session with Jonathan.
